Volunteer Opportunities
Transcend Research Collective
We have several projects in preparation for our 10-year anniversary of the Finding Our Strength survey.
- Community Advsiory Board Member: Provide insights and periodically consult on trans-led research initiatives.
- Survey Design: Influence the second iteration of a community-led survey on community coping and resilience
- Qualitative Analysis: Analyze qualitative data from focus groups on the trans/gender diverse care experience.
- Literature Review: Conduct literature reviews on coping, resilience, etc.
- Outreach & Promotion: Promote research opportunities and share among your networks.
- Health Communications roles, collaborating across multiple circles to translate scholarly writing into actionable, accessible information promoting community well-being.
Health & Wellness Circle
Are you interested in supporting peer-led programs? Or providing support in a group or individual setting? Creating content to promote trans health?
Some of our current projects include:
- Know Your Rights: What information can we share to support autonomy, self-determination, and security? This includes policy information and updating documents.
- Support Groups: SMART Recovery, General Support Group, ADHD Skills Group, Financial Well-being.
- Health & Wellness Library: Promoting integrative well-being.
Creative, Communications, Outreach & Acessibility
We have a variety of ways to get involved with translating information into effective and accessible information.
- Accessibility Coordinators work as liaisons with TTB-hosted events to maximize accessibility for our community.
- Social Media Strategists/Content Creators to develop and implement content.
- Digital Outreach to build community, virtually.
- Copywriters, including Health Communications and a variety of content.

General Circle
Get involved with setting the internal practices, policies, and structures as we strive to practice trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, cooperative governance!
Some examples of the what we are working on include:
- Restorative/Transformative Justice processes to proactively navigate conflict/tension
- Navigate complexities of the current social media climate and influence creative strategies to build communities online
- Identifying centralized communication platforms that are effective for organizing
- Additional roles may include Scribe, Facilitator, Co-Lead, External Liaisons/Community Building, Delegate to Mission Council (board), and more!
Leadership Lab
We aim to cultivate community leadership at all levels of our organization. We’re invested in supporting your growth and ideas.
- General Circle Co-Lead (operationally focused on the health of the organization)
- General Circle Delegate on Mission Council (represents the perspectives of the team)
- Community-Building Liaisons on Outreach/General Circles and Mission Council
- Grant Writers/Coordinators on the General Circle
- Mission Councilors roles (focused on the long-term strategy and support of the organization, akin to a Board of Directors)
- Scribe (supports meeting functioning through recording and keeping decisions/minutes)
- Facilitator (leads the development of collaborative agendas and guides meeting processes)
What to expect as a Core Team Member
- Your skills, ideas, and contributions hold equal weight, starting on day one.
- You’ll learn about democratic practices while we organize together.
- You’ll work with others who are committed to learning, growing. We strive towards trauma-informed and effective ways of organizing (Ways of Being).
- Each circle typically meets or checks-in monthly; sub-projects meet as needed to progress on shared objectives.
- Engaged members hold decision-making authority, meaning you inform the decisions that directly impact you, your work, as well as participate in elections for the General Circle (annually).
- You’ll have access to a myriad of leadership and skill-building opportunities.
- All active team members have the ability to make proposals to inform our work.
