the Transcend team

Transcend the Binary is a team of incredibly passionate, and talented individuals who come from many different backgrounds, disciplines and perspectives. The beauty of our team shines through the collaboration that we bring to everything we do. Voices from the community drive our program development, what we focus on, and how we approach our care.

We are committed to serving the trans and gender diverse community with the superior quality of peer-led services. We believe in a community-driven model of development, and we respect our community as the ultimate expert. The clinicians on our team have worked extensively with our community, and we have been patient-centered, informed consent practices since our inception. Our team has created education and training programs for physicians, pharmacists and therapists. We have presented at national conferences on transgender care, educating on the needs of our community.

iN CHERISHED memory of our CO-founder

“To respond to the patient community, you must be part of the community. You learn by experience, especially when the education in these areas is still being written.”

RESEARCH TEAM

Transcend has joined forces with the University of Michigan, including access to Institute for Social Research analysis tools. Team members are entrenched in public health, quality measures of health care systems, possess extensive clinical experience (pharmacy, therapy), as well as deep understanding of community needs. Transcend follows a community participatory model of research design, where the community is the driver, leading in the creation of, and implementation of our research.

The community is a driver at each stage, from survey creation, recruitment to data analysis and dissemination.
